Isotrol, a pioneering technology company in the development of solutions for the renewable energy sector, is advancing its product evolution with the development of Bluence EMS, a unique system that will enable companies to maximize the performance of their renewable assets. This solution allows, for the first time, comprehensive management of energy generation, storage, and sales in a single tool. It’s a "three-in-one" tool that facilitates the management of renewables and increases the efficiency and profitability of the entire lifecycle of the assets. This, in turn, promotes the optimization of the complex renewable energy business, helping to stabilize supply and demand.

Zero Waste

This pioneering system by Isotrol is designed to reduce wasted energy in renewable installations to zero. The idea is for it to evolve to be exported to other countries: “To ensure zero wasted energy, we must consider the plant's storage capacity; however, the goal is to reduce it to zero or minimize it as much as possible. I'm confident we will achieve this with this application, as the energy will be stored for moments when the grid can absorb it or when the price is more advantageous for the producer,” assures Isotrol's CEO, Manuel Losada.

This optimization solution is initially designed to integrate with batteries but will evolve to also manage other systems such as pumping: “Our end-to-end solution will adapt to the sector's and our clients' needs with the goal of driving the evolution of the renewable energy sector in our country, as we have been doing for more than two decades,” points out the company's Strategy Director, Mario Fito.

A strategic proposal for the energy sector

Isotrol highlights the strategic value this solution will have for the energy sector: “We talk about end-to-end because it offers the three necessary components: the hybrid SCADA and PPC - for remote plant supervision and power management at the connection point, the EMS - for battery strategy management through an optimal charge and discharge plan, and the Trading platform - to issue the offer and prepare the participation strategy,” says Mario Fito.

For his part, Losada adds, “At Isotrol, we have set ourselves the goal of being pioneers in providing end-to-end solutions to renewable asset owners, particularly for the Iberian market. We have been working on storage development for over 12 years, five of which were dedicated to this specific solution.” One of the first optimization projects developed by Isotrol was with Endesa to manage storage at a substation in the Canary Islands.

Isotrol's development team points out that the new solution will be “key to achieving decarbonization goals, as it will prevent energy wastage during low-cost periods and help ensure its availability, guaranteeing greater profitability of renewable generation and avoiding negative prices.”

Adaptability to international environments

The product is transferable to other energy markets, as it is a global solution available for any region. Its configuration in international environments where Isotrol operates requires specific adaptation to each country's regulations, which does not pose significant complexity given the company’s extensive knowledge of international systems' operations after more than a decade of internationalization, further boosted by Tikehau Capital's acquisition of the company in December 2022.
